Study Finds Push Ups Are A Great Indicator For Heart Disease.

As a big fan of old school bodyweight exercises, I find this study incredibly fascinating. It further emphasizes the importance of these classic exercises, especially the humble push-up.

In this study, researchers followed over a thousand firefighters for 10 years. They found something surprising: the number of push-ups a person could do was closely linked to their future heart health.

Those who could do more than 40 push-ups had a significantly lower risk of heart problems compared to those who struggled to do just 10 or less. What's even more interesting is that it wasn't about cholesterol levels; even people with normal cholesterol were at higher risk if they couldn't do many push-ups.

A push-up is the perfect foundation for a solid workout routine. They are not only simple and accessible, but they also offer a multitude of health benefits beyond just building strength.

Firstly, push-ups are a full-body exercise that engage multiple muscle groups, including the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core. This means you're not only working on building upper body strength, but also improving your overall muscle tone and stability.

Additionally, push-ups can be easily modified to suit different fitness levels. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, there's a variation of the push-up that's just right for you. From incline push-ups for beginners to plyometric push-ups for the more advanced, there's plenty of room to progress and challenge yourself.

Plus, since push-ups are a weight-bearing exercise, they can help improve bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis later in life.

While fitness experts and influencers often showcase flashy new exercises to stand out, it's the simple, old-school ones like push-ups that have proven their effectiveness over time. These basic exercises may not be as exciting, but they consistently deliver results because they work wonders for building strength and improving overall fitness.

So, for your heart’s sake make sure you do your push-ups!
