Journey > Destination
If you think fitness is a destination, at best you will hit your destination and then regress. At worst you quit before you get there.
When I first started out as a trainer, I was very focused on the destination. I saw my job as getting my clients to their ideal weight as quickly as possible. However, I realized that the clients who got the best results and maintained their new physique had embraced their workout and nutrition program as a way of life.
Many people believe making fitness as a way of life takes too much discipline. Pounding the pavements or bouncing around in some boot camp class is a form of torture and avoiding their favorite foods is just not possible.
But you don’t have to be a fitness fanatic and it doesn’t have to be difficult or restrictive. Plan out your week.
3 – 30-minute workouts per week
Prioritize protein with each meal.
Eat natural whole foods.
No processed junk foods.
Aim for a minimum 80% compliance. Some weeks you’ll be on it and achieve 100%. Other weeks you might be on vacation or having busy work week and only achieve 50%.
However, if you change your mindset and you think fitness is a journey, then you will accept and embrace the reality. There are no short cuts. It’s for life.
