There is no 'Kids Food'
One of the most ridiculous nutritional concepts is ‘kids food' being different from adult food.
Go into any restaurant and you get a kid’s menu. Generally, some combination of nutrient depleted foods like pizza, mac & cheese, pasta or chicken nuggets.
Then you have the kids breakfast industry. A multi-billion-dollar industry based on feeding your kids cereals that are loaded with sugar and artificial colorings that can cause hyperactivity and behavioral issues in children.
There is a whole range of packaged lunch products like lunchables, juices boxes, things that you squeeze out of a tube and a whole bunch of other processed foods.
Nowadays, families prepare an entirely different meal for their kids. This is a direct result of large food corporations convincing parents that kids eat different food to adults, which is completely absurd.
If you think about it from an evolutionary perspective, there was no such thing as ‘kids’ food’. There was just food!
You don’t have to go back too far, even just 50 years, and you would find that kids were eating the same foods as their parents.
Today’s marketing and advertising campaigns suggest that these processed foods are actually healthier than natural whole foods. And, those that aren’t healthy, well you’re just a mean parent for depriving your kids some fun and a sugar rush.
Kids will learn to love whatever we feed them, however, it is easier if we start them early.
